For the European Banking Federation this is about creating a stable and inclusive financial ecosystem, with secure financing available for citizens, businesses and innovators everywhere, supported by excellence in regulation.

The EBF’s European Banking Summit in Brussels has become an annual landmark moment to define key challenges for the banking sector and to discuss solutions. ‘Building a New Future’ is the theme for the 2017 summit with an agenda that covers financial technology, regulation and green finance and that builds on the theme of ‘Embracing Disruption’ a year earlier.

Five years into Banking Union and 25 years after the launch of European Monetary Union the EU’s financial services landscape has changed materially. But despite these great achievements, the EU continues to be plagued by legal, institutional and political challenges. Brexit and elections in key member states are part of this complexity.
